Fleetwood Civic Art Trail

We’re pleased to announce the opening of a new civic art trail that takes you on a walking tour of our lovely historic town.

Starting at Men’s Shed, follow the seagulls, crabs and buckets and spades as they take you along the promenade, down some of Fleetwood’s oldest streets and past some of our oldest buildings to finish at the new mural at The Steamer pub.

Get your steps in, enjoy the fresh air and connect with Fleetwood’s past while looking to a hopeful future.

Thanks to Seca One and the Big HeART Project for designing the art trail stencils and working with Men’s Shed to train participants to apply the artwork to the different sites around town. Huge thanks also to Teaone for creating the magnificent mural at The Steamer Pub.

Here’s what Fleetwood resident, Scott, had to say about walking the trail:

“After seeing posts on Facebook I decided to see what it was all about. As I was on my own, I was immediately welcomed to the group, and the walk was quickly underway. The weather was fine and the route was flat and clear. The atmosphere was friendly throughout and it was great to be around so many people of all ages with an interest in doing something for the town.

Spotting the stencil art on the pavements and walls added to the walk and it was nice stopping at points along the way, to chat will locals and tourists who had taken an interest in the trail.

When the walk ended it really felt like it had been worthwhile and I heard about what each person had got form the trail. For me, it was walking routes I have taken many times but looking at them from a different perspective, appreciating the new murals but also the history that the town has. I learnt a lot more about Fleetwood Arts Community and the volunteer opportunities that are available and how to get involved in future projects.

It was so refreshing to see the passion and excitement that the organisers are putting into the town, and this creative approach is something special for the area. Having lived in Fleetwood for over 40 years, I am excited to see what can be achieved in the future by the driven local creatives we have.”
